Handyman estimate calculator for repair and installation jobs

A handyman estimate often combines several different repair, installation, adjustment, mounting, patching, trim, caulking, assembly, or maintenance tasks in one job. This calculator keeps the pricing side separate from the task-time estimate: start with total labor-hours, apply your own labor cost, add materials and job expenses, then price the job from your target gross margin.

The calculator does not insert a standard handyman hourly rate or local material price. That makes it useful for handyman businesses and small home-repair crews that need to price mixed jobs from their own cost structure rather than a generic market assumption.

Margin vs. markup: Target gross margin is profit as a percentage of selling price. The calculator uses estimated job cost ÷ (1 − margin) rather than simply adding the margin percentage to cost.

Handyman estimate calculator FAQ

What costs should I include in a handyman estimate?

Include the costs that belong to the job you are pricing, such as labor, materials, hardware, travel, equipment or rentals, delivery or disposal, other direct job costs, and any overhead you choose to allocate to the job.

Can I import a saved Handyman Labor Hours Estimate?

Yes. If a completed Handyman Labor Hours Estimate was saved in this browser, this tool can load its total labor-hours and basic project details. It does not change your labor cost rate, materials, margin, minimum price, or other pricing inputs.

Does this calculator use a standard handyman hourly rate?

No. You enter your own labor cost per labor-hour. Small Crew Tools does not insert a local market rate or recommended customer price.

Is target gross margin the same as markup?

No. Margin is profit divided by selling price, while markup is profit divided by cost. This calculator prices from target gross margin.

What does the minimum job price do?

If the target-margin price is below the minimum job price you enter, the calculator uses the minimum before applying any selected upward rounding.

Where is the saved estimate stored?

Save in Browser stores one local draft in this browser. It does not automatically sync to another device or browser.
