Estimate handyman labor time

Use one row for each task. Labor time per unit means the total worker time needed to complete one unit of that task.

1. Job details & crew

Project details are optional. Crew size is used only to convert total labor-hours into estimated crew time.

Whole number from 1 to 50.

Using the Handyman Scope of Work Maker? If a scope was saved in this browser, you can load its included tasks and project details. Free-text scope quantities are kept as references unless they are plain numbers, so review each imported row before estimating.

No saved handyman scope found.

2. Task labor estimates

Enter your own labor time for one unit of each task. Add setup, pickup, cleanup, or other labor as separate tasks when they belong in the estimate.

Estimated crew time = total labor-hours ÷ crew size. This assumes the work can be shared evenly; some handyman tasks cannot be split across workers.

When you choose Save in Browser, one handyman labor estimate draft is stored in local storage in this browser. The labor estimate information you enter is processed in your browser and isn't sent to us.

Time-estimating aid only. Small Crew Tools does not provide standard handyman labor times, production rates, repair methods, wages, or prices. Use your own job knowledge and adjust for the actual scope, site conditions, worker skill, access, coordination, and tasks that cannot be divided evenly among crew members.

How to estimate handyman labor hours

  1. Set the crew size for the job.
  2. Add each repair, installation, adjustment, mounting, cleanup, or other labor task as a separate row.
  3. Enter the labor time you expect for one unit of the task and the number of units.
  4. Review total labor-hours, then use crew time as a rough scheduling view rather than a guarantee of elapsed job duration.
  5. Copy, export, print, or save the estimate before moving into job pricing.

Handyman labor hours estimator for mixed repair jobs

Handyman work rarely follows one square-foot production rate. A single job can include door adjustments, drywall patches, trim repairs, shelving, mounting, hardware replacement, assembly, caulking, cleanup, and other tasks that each take a different amount of time. This estimator lets you build labor-hours task by task using your own experience instead of inserting generic labor assumptions.

For each work item, enter the estimated labor time per unit and quantity. The tool calculates task labor-hours, total job labor-hours, and estimated crew time based on the crew size you enter. That makes it useful after a handyman site walkthrough and scope of work, before you turn labor, materials, overhead, and margin into a customer price.

Labor-hours vs. crew time: Four labor-hours can mean one worker for four hours, two workers for about two hours, or another combination. Crew time is only a mathematical conversion and may differ when tasks must be performed sequentially or by a specific worker.

Handyman labor hours FAQ

What is a labor-hour?

One labor-hour is one worker working for one hour. Two workers working for 30 minutes also equal one labor-hour in total.

Does this tool provide standard handyman labor times?

No. Handyman jobs vary too much by task, condition, access, worker skill, and scope. You enter the labor time you expect for each task.

How does crew size affect the estimate?

Crew size does not change total labor-hours. It divides total labor-hours to show an estimated crew-time figure. Actual elapsed time can be longer when work cannot be shared evenly.

Can I import a saved Handyman Scope of Work?

Yes. The tool can load saved scope tasks and basic project details from this browser. You still review the quantity and enter your own labor time for every imported task.

Should travel, setup, shopping, or cleanup be included?

Include them only when they belong in the labor estimate you are building. The simplest approach is to add them as separate task rows so the assumption stays visible.

Where is the saved labor estimate stored?

Save in Browser stores one local draft in this browser. It does not automatically sync to another device or browser.
