What are labor hours?

Labor hours measure the combined working time of everyone on a job. If three people each work five hours, the job uses 15 labor hours.

This is useful when planning crew capacity, comparing jobs, or estimating how much staff time a project requires.

Different schedules in the same crew

If everyone works the same hours, enter the whole crew in one entry. If workers have different start times, end times, or breaks, add separate entries.

Individual entry: Set Crew size to 1 in each entry if you want to calculate each worker separately.

Overnight shifts

If an end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator treats the end time as the following day.

Example: 10:00 PM → 2:00 AM = 4 hr 00 min before breaks.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter workers individually?

Is the break deducted for every person in the entry?

Yes. The entered break is deducted from each person's time in that entry.

Does this calculator handle overnight work?

Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator treats the end time as the following day.

Does this calculate payroll or overtime?

No. This tool only calculates combined labor hours. It does not apply wage rates, overtime rules, taxes, deductions, or payroll laws.
