Measure the length, width, and height of the pile or item. For measurements in feet, multiply the three dimensions to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 to get cubic yards. The calculator also applies the quantity you enter.

How many cubic feet are in one cubic yard?

One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet because a cubic yard is 3 ft × 3 ft × 3 ft.

Can I enter junk measurements in inches?

Yes. Choose Inches (in) for that row. The calculator converts cubic inches to cubic feet by dividing by 1,728, then converts cubic feet to cubic yards.

Does this calculator tell me how much of my truck the junk will fill?

Why can actual truck space differ from the calculated volume?
